I am honoured to have been selected as the chosen artist for this year’s 3:33 Art Projects Young Curators Programme, an initiative that partners with secondary schools to foster curatorial experience and support Australian contemporary artists.
My exhibition, Residence, opened on 21st August at The Chapel Gallery, curated by students from St George Christian School and Kingsgrove High School under the guidance of 3:33 Art Projects. The programme provides students with a rare opportunity to research, develop, and stage an exhibition while connecting directly with an artist’s practice. The exhibition brought together a body of my paintings and drawings exploring still life, interiors, and memory—works that invited viewers to engage deeply with ideas of presence, shadow, and reflection. I was also privileged to take part in a Q&A session with the students, where I shared insights about my journey as an artist, the challenges of self-doubt, and the importance of authenticity in creative practice.
I am grateful to 3:33 Art Projects, Director Gaibrielle Germanos, Samantha Ferris, St George Christian Schooland Kingsgrove High School, and the Young Curators team for their thoughtful collaboration and for presenting my work with such care.
“ Peta’s artworks filled the Chapel Gallery and Atrium with a mesmerizing blend of colour, texture, shadow and shape. Each piece spoke to guests at a deep level, and many guests stood immersed in an artwork for some time. We are deeply grateful to Peta for sharing her art with our community”
